Selected Crypto Currencies as of 10-29-2023

The four plots show the historical prices of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash, respectively. The dates on the x-axis range from 2015 to 2024, and the prices on the y-axis are in US dollars.

Bitcoin

The Bitcoin plot shows that the price of Bitcoin has been on a volatile upward trajectory since its inception. In 2015, Bitcoin was trading for around $300. By the end of 2017, it had reached an all-time high of nearly $20,000. However, Bitcoin experienced a sharp crash in 2018, and its price fell below $4,000. Bitcoin began to recover in 2019, and by the end of 2021, it had reached another all-time high of nearly $69,000. As of October 29, 2023, Bitcoin is trading for $34,071.32.

Ethereum

The Ethereum plot shows a similar trend to Bitcoin, with a volatile upward trajectory since its inception. In 2015, Ethereum was trading for around $0.50. By the end of 2017, it had reached an all-time high of nearly $1,400. However, Ethereum also experienced a sharp crash in 2018, and its price fell below $100. Ethereum began to recover in 2019, and by the end of 2021, it had reached another all-time high of nearly $4,900. As of October 29, 2023, Ethereum is trading for $1,790.20.

Litecoin

Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that is often considered to be a silver to Bitcoin's gold. Litecoin has a faster transaction time than Bitcoin, and it is also cheaper to send and receive. The Litecoin plot shows that the price of Litecoin has followed a similar trend to Bitcoin, but with less volatility. In 2015, Litecoin was trading for around $2. By the end of 2017, it had reached an all-time high of nearly $370. However, Litecoin also experienced a sharp crash in 2018, and its price fell below $30. Litecoin began to recover in 2019, and by the end of 2021, it had reached another all-time high of nearly $260. As of October 29, 2023, Litecoin is trading for $6.69.

Bitcoin Cash

Bitcoin Cash is a cryptocurrency that was created in 2017 as a hard fork of Bitcoin. Bitcoin Cash has a larger block size than Bitcoin, which allows it to process more transactions per second. The Bitcoin Cash plot shows that the price of Bitcoin Cash has been more volatile than Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin. In 2017, Bitcoin Cash was trading for around $400. By the end of 2017, it had reached an all-time high of nearly $4,000. However, Bitcoin Cash also experienced a sharp crash in 2018, and its price fell below $100. Bitcoin Cash began to recover in 2019, but it has not reached its all-time high since then. As of October 29, 2023, Bitcoin Cash is trading for $244.55.
